If you have never sewn or are want to brush up this is the perfect course. Most of the learning will be hands-on. This course will be conducted over 8 consecutive weeks. They are designed to teach you basic home-sewing machine operating skills, pattern layout, fabric cutting, sewing construction, and finishing techniques. A pre-approved selected pattern will be used to complete projects.
After you have completed the beginner’s course, you will be ready for our Intermediate Course. In this course you can complete a more detailed garment like a dress, jacket, or slacks for example. Fundamentals learned may include side pockets, waistbands, collars, and zippers. Students will continue to learn about pattern layout, fabric cutting, garment construction, and advanced finishing techniques for garment construction. You will also learn how to measure, construct lined garments, and use of sergers. A pre-approved selected pattern will be used to complete projects.
Our advance course encourages more creativity. It will also focus on altering for a custom fit. During this 8 week course you’ll learn to drape a beginner bodice, skirt, sleeve and develop your own pattern blocks through basic draping techniques. We’ll cover pattern manipulation and garment construction techniques in relation to pattern drafting and draping. A pre-approved selected pattern will be used to complete projects. It may also be altered to create new designs.
